Conclusion:
The H55M-ED55 is a well constructed quality board for overclockers and gamers. There were good performance result and the BIOS was flexible and feature rich. This board was a stable overclocker and the OC Genie button is feature that can be used for novice PC builders to get started with overclocking.
Overclocking:
An Intel i7-860 was OCed @ 4.010GHz with the baseclock @ 200.5MHz.
Compared to:
ASRock H55DE3, Gigabyte GA-P55-UD6.
Benchmarks:
SiSoft Sandra, power consumption, , CineBench 11.5 , Handbrake , 3D Mark and PC Mark Vantage , Crysis Warhead , Far Cry 2. In the gaming benches a Gigabyte GTS 250 512MB was used.
Test Setup:
- RAM : 4GB Patriot Sector 5 DDR3 2000MHz
- HDD : Western Digital Raptor 150GB
- PSU : Corsair 750w
- OS : Windows 7 Home Premium x64

This mainboard was compared to the Asus P7H57D-EVO in the benchmarks
Conclusion: Throughout the test the H55M ED55 could keep up with the Asus P7H57D EVO, a mainboard that's about 50% deerer. Of course the mATX form factor limits Multi GPU solutions, this board has a lesser power phase design and is not equipped with USB3.0 and SATA 6.0GB/s ports.
Overclocking
-Tools: The OC Genie tool a truly flopped during the tests, It's not the "one second" operation as it suggests, nor did it attain an overclock of any sort.
-Base Clock Overclocking: Max BCLK was stable @191MHz.
-Overall Overclocing: The maximum stability of the Intel Core i3 530 core speed was reached @4104MHz after lowering the base clock to 186.5MHz.Benchmarks: HD Tune,PassMark, Windows HD Showcase, Flash HD Video Playback, Left 4 DeadSisoft Sandra, Everest, PC Mark Vantage, 3dmark06, Winrar.

This mainboard was compared to the ASUS P7H75D-V EVO, Gigabyte GA-H57M-USB3 and the ASRock H55M Pro. Core i5 661 IGP tests are also availabe.
Conclusion: Overall, this mobo is a pretty good board, it will give you stable performance for mainstream gaming and the OC Genie is a nice overclocking tool. MSI has not included a general installer for drivers and they also need to take a look at HDD performance.
Overclocking: Using the OC Genie button a Core i5 661 was OCed @ 3.9GHz (178x22). Manually they even reached 4.0GHz (156x16). They used a Cooler Master Hyper 212 with an extra fan to get these results. The IGP was not overclocked.
Benchmarks: HyperPi, SIMS 3, Far Cry 2, Gordian Knot, LightwaveSisoft Sandra, Everest, PC Mark Vantage.
- anandtech is helping you choosing the Best H55/H57 Motherboard, the H55M-ED55 was compared to the ASUS P7H55D-M EVO, ASUS P7H57D-V EVO and the ASRock H55M-Pro. They have a serious warning for overclockers that use the bundled overclocking software. This software has a habit of misreading and misapplying CPU PLL voltages, you end up with voltages over 2.1V going into a sensitive 1.8V rail. One of the quickest ways to kill or degrade a CPU is to overvolt CPU PLL unnecessarily, hopefully MSI will fix this bug soon.
- itreviews.co.uk has a small review with some OC results: OC Genie did not work correctly with their Intel Core i5 661. Manually they reached 3.75GHz, while 4GHz should have been possible, itreviews was not impressed by this result.
